Microsoft Visio Design Plan Beverly Ashford 8/1/09 EDTC 3332 – Instructional Technology Practicum

Needs Assessment:  Teachers use time consuming drawing methods to create drawings, charts and diagrams to help support their lesson plans.  The finished drawings, charts and diagrams do not look professional and are often hard to read and comprehend.  Teachers need a software program to assist in creating diagrams and drawings in a timely manner with professional looking results.

Needs Assessment  Microsoft Visio will help the teachers save time and effort when creating instructional diagrams, charts and drawings.  Teachers need a training module on how to use Microsoft Visio to save time and create professional looking diagrams, charts and drawings.

Instructional Goal  After completing this training, teachers will know the different drawing tools Visio has to offer, the key terminology of Microsoft Visio, and will be able to use shapes and connectors to create a flowchart.

Performance Objectives After completing this training lesson, the learner will:  Correctly identify at least 3 types of diagrams that can be created in Microsoft Visio.  Correctly define 3 key words in Microsoft Visio.  Correctly identify the proper order of steps required to create a basic flowchart in Microsoft Visio.

Assessment of Learning Outcomes: Performance ObjectiveAssessment Correctly identify at least 3 types of diagrams that can be created in Microsoft Visio. Quiz question: Which of the following are types of diagrams you can make with Visio? Correctly define 3 key words in Microsoft Visio. Quiz questions: What is a Visio drawing page? What is a Visio stencil? What is a Visio template? Correctly identify the proper order of steps required to create a basic flowchart in Microsoft Visio. Quiz question: Which of the following is the correct order of steps to create a basic flowchart in Microsoft Visio?
