Transportation Bus routes/stops will be available at our Open House in July Let your teacher know if your child will be a car rider or bus rider. If your child’s way of getting home changes, you must let the teacher know no later than that morning.

Transportation Car riders will be dropped off on the sidewalk off the road near the cafeteria. (staff members will be on duty) Doors open at 7:30AM. Students who arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 need to report to the library. (staff will be on duty) Bell rings at 7:45. Students can go to classroom between 7:45 and 8:00. Tardy bell rings at 8:00. If a child is tardy the parent needs to sign them in at the office.

Transportation The dismissal bell rings at 2:45 If your child is a bus rider, he/she is escorted out by a teacher to make sure they get on the correct bus. If your child is a car rider, he/she will be escorted to the cafeteria. As you pull into the pick up lane, your child will be brought out to you.

STAGGERED ENTRY All students will attend the first day of school. The next three days will be staggered entry. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) Your child will attend one of those three days.

Breakfast and Lunch Students may bring their lunch to school or eat in the cafeteria. Parents are always welcome to eat lunch with their child. (check in at the front office) However, please do not do so during the first two weeks of school. (this will help with the transition to school and gaining independence)

How can you help? Send your child to school with a smile on YOUR face. Encourage and praise your child. Assist your child in becoming independent at home by allowing them to do things for themselves. Make your child responsible for tasks such as picking up their toys and making the table.

First day of school hints (for parents) If you walk your child to the classroom the first few days, please leave once they enter the classroom. For the first few days of school please don’t ‘hang around’ the classroom; for the first several days a clean break is best for your child’s developing independence. Please don’t let your child see you cry.

Children vary in their rate of development Your child is an individual with his or her rate of growth and his or her own set of abilities and talents. Accept your child as he or she is. Give them time to grow and develop.

SUPPLIES Bookbag – large enough to carry library books and towel for rest time Please take home a supply list tonight Towel or Mat – Kindergarten students have daily rest time

Snacks Bring a nutritious food for snack time everyday. Please do not send candy or soft drinks. Juice is better.

Clothes Please provide a change of clothes in a zip lock bag for emergencies. Also send baby wipes.

Money Please place any money sent to school with your child’s name, teacher’s name, amount of money and purpose in an envelop written on the outside of the envelope If the money is for lunch, please put their name and their lunch number on the envelope. Please help them learn their lunch number as soon as possible.

You can help the school do a better job if you……. Attend parent-teacher conferences Communicate often with teachers Know what your child is studying Take an interest in your child’s school work and behavior See that your child follows rules and attends school regularly Support the teachers in teaching your child

And remember! We all have the same goal……..giving your child the BEST possible education!

Welcome to the Penderlea Family!!!
