Look at the picture on page Read the picture caption on the right sidebar. What exaggerations do you see in the picture?

What is the date of Kansas’ birthday? What are some of the difficulties that Kansas endured before it became a state? Why was it not possible for Kansas to ask the Federal government for help?

What problems were present after Kansas became a state? What is the state motto for Kansas? What does it mean in English? Why is this appropriate for our state? Look at the Kansas State Seal on page 100 Why were those items placed on the seal?

What is a Bill of Rights? How can the Constitutions of both the U.S. and Kansas be changed? How is the Kansas Constitution different from the U.S. Constitution?

What are the three levels of government ? What are the three branches of government? Define these words – Ordinances – Revenue – Representative government – vetoes
