Athletic Eligibility ● All incoming freshmen are eligible to play fall sports in the semester of their freshman year. ● After first semester of freshman year: 1. Must pass three out of four classes during the semester prior to the sport they wish to play. 2. Have at least a 1.5 GPA (or 2.0 in previous semesters). 3. Attended school at least 85% the time.

Problems that can Affect School Performance ● Poor attendance ● Academic Difficulties ● Behavior Issues

Attendance Matters! By state law… Attendance is mandatory. Any student who has more than 10 absences in a course will be subject to a grade of FF and will not earn credit for the course.

What Can Parents Do? ● Make school A PRIORITY. Don’t tolerate tardies and absences. Try to schedule medical appointments at different times so as not to miss the same class. ● Attend – As many Parent Events as Possible. ● Check Home Base and teachers on a regular basis. This will limit surprises on interims and report cards. ● Ask about homework. If your student consistently has NO HW, then something is wrong. Contact teachers and check Home Base. ● Listen to and support your student allowing them a voice. This is the time to encourage your student to begin making some decisions on their own. ● Resist the temptation to provide all the answers and “fix” everything. Encourage them to face difficulties and problem solve. Remember, your student needs your support and encouragement during this transition year.
