BRUT RICE Brut Rice is one of the most typical Majorcan recipies. It is a type of rice with broth and spices. In its origins this Majorcan recipe was cooked specially with products from the vegetable garden, with meat, sobrassada or butifarró. NUTRITIONAL VALUE: Its energetic value is high due to the carbohydrates of the rice and the fat, especially from the meat. The contribution of protein and minerals stands out, like the iron coming from the meat and the liver. It must be consumed occasionally, and be avoided in case of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular problems.

INGREDIENTS Meat in chunks (chicken, rabbit...) Vegetables (peas, beans, red pepper, mushrooms...) Onion Two spoonfuls of raw and crushed tomato Rice (a cup per person) Paprika Water PREPARATION It is simple to prepare as the ingredients are just meat, vegetables and a handful of rice: 1. Fry a little meat. 2. Remove it from the fire and fry the onion together with the crushed tomato. 3. Add this to the meat and vegetables. 4. Add water and paprika. 5. Cook until the meat and the vegetables are done. 6. Add the rice. 7. Leave it to cook. Must be served with plenty of broth.
