Reading “Treasures” (Macmillian/McGraw-Hill) This program is meeting the many language\reading needs of the district. This updated version includes reading, vocabulary, spelling and grammar skills. It is aligned to state standards and will ensure that all Wilson students are receiving the same level of excellent instruction. Guided Reading Flexible groups F & P testing, fluency testing, benchmarks Focus on Reading Strategies Various book genres Novels HOMEWORK:Reading-15 minutes, minimum of three nights a week complete Log Sheets and return to school on designated day.

Language Skills & Spelling Grammar Capitalization, punctuation Vocabulary Spelling These pieces are incorporated into the complete “Treasures” program. Skills are taught in context, practiced, applied, and evaluated.

Writing Writing Process used to develop: Sentences and paragraphs Narrative, informative, persuasive Essays Letters Poems Writing prompts Once again these pieces are all part of the comprehensive “Treasures” program. Skills are taught, practiced, applied and assessed based upon rubrics and the state standards which align to the PSSA test in Spring.
