The Technology Plan

 The mission of the St. Lucie County School District is to ensure all students graduate from safe and caring schools, equipped with knowledge, skills, and the desire to succeed. St. Lucie County Technology Plan

 The mission for technology in the St. Lucie County School District as related to technology is to provide all students with access to a technology-rich environment that will support and reinforce the education goals and produce successful, life long learners.

 Lincoln Park Academy is a premier college preparatory 6-12 public school that prepares all students for post-secondary placement through challenging, engaging, and satisfying work that enables every student to continuously improve in all academic areas.

Lincoln Park Academy Currently employs:  107 instructional staff members  46 Non-instructional staff  1914 Students

 Because LPA does not have a separate technology plan the school abides by the technology plan written by the district for all schools.  The district technology plan can be found online at:

The St. Lucie County School District technology plan comparison StrengthsWeaknesses Comprehensive Provisions for Lays out appropriate use, Various layers of support, Technology upgrades, Established infrastructure.

The Standard Plan addresses: Wiring and Infrastructure Computer Hardware Peripheral Devices (printers, scanners, digital cameras, etc.) Media Center Technology Distance Learning Equipment Televisions and other Audio Visual Equipment Other

The Standard Model addresses:  This model is used for instructional, non- instructional, and administrative, and technical usage and support.  This model is directly connected to and integrated with the mission of the school district which to ensure that all students are learning and equipped with knowledge, skills, and the desire to succeed.

Requirements:  Each year, schools are required to verify their computer inventory.  From this inventory district technology directors make decisions regarding further technology upgrades and usage.

Analysis of teacher’s use of technology Instructional staff (teachers) currently use limited amounts of technology within the classroom setting. There is a further reduction of the use of technology outside of the classroom whether assigned work for students or instructor based usage.

Analysis of teacher’s use of technology (cont)  This reduction is in part due to the limited technology that exists in the classroom.  It also can be attributed to a non-existent policy for instructors to become proficient with technology use within the classroom setting.  And although there is an abundance of professional development it is scattered and disorganized throughout the district website.

Potential support interventions to increase technology usage within the classroom  Survey teachers to discover which classrooms need more computers  Purchase computer switchboards to share network connections in rooms with limited “plugs”  Emphasize and train teachers on 25-station computer carts we currently have available.  Conduct computer literacy professional development to encourage usage amongteachers
