Curriculum is defined as the knowledge, skills, and performance standards students are expected to acquire in particular grade levels, or through sequences or clusters based on subject matter unites of instruction, such as language arts, mathematics, science, English, history, physical education, and others. A Curriculum Framework- is a document given to the school districts that describes the curriculum standards and benchmarks for learning. WHAT IS CURRICULUM?

Integration by itself is defined as bringing different parts together into a whole. Therefore, Technology integration is the combination of all technology parts, such as hardware and software, together with each subject-related area of curriculum to enhance learning. WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION?

Computer lab is usually a designated classroom filled with computers and technology for students to use individually or in groups. Labs are for students and for teachers. The labs are used for many purpose such as: whole group instruction, small group activities or individual student centered learning. Media centers and labs are a popular approach to getting technology into K-12 schools. Classrooms are more teacher oriented where as in a computer lab, the teacher can put all instructions online, and the students can do everything themselves. COMPUTER LAB VS. CLASSROOM

Motivating students to learn is one area that all educators are constantly trying to achieve. Technology has the potential to increase student motivation and class attendance. Using technology tools with students with varying abilities has helped to address different learning styles and reach diverse learners. Technology helps keep students interested in what they are learning. HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS POSITIVE INFLUENCES IN LEARNING.

Some barriers were: Lack of teacher training, security constraints, lack of administration support, limited time for teacher planning, computer placement in remote locations, budget constraints, and lack of high speed school networks. 5 stages for technology integration that all teachers must progress in order to integrate technology effectively are: Familiarization, Utilization, Integration, Reorientation, Revolution. BARRIERS TO TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

It is important to plan classroom lessons and activities that utilize technology. Teachers must consider the skills and knowledge level required for students to start and complete the lesson successfully. Skill assessment surveys identify individual students’ academic and technology skill levels and create a starting point for developing instructional strategies. KWL Charts: effective planning chart that assists the teacher in identifying student understanding of curriculum standards ASSURE Model: instructional model that integrates technologies and media into the teaching process PLANNING TOOLS & INSTRUCTIONAL MODELS

Analyze the Learner: Who are the learners? What are their skills? What are their learning styles? State Objectives: What do you want the learners to gain knowledge of? Select Methods, Media, and Materials: What methods of instruction will you use? Which materials will you need? Utilize Methods, Media, and Materials: How will you use the methods and media? What is your instructional strategy? Require Learner Participation: What will the learners be required to do? Will the learners engage in participatory or passive learning? Evaluate and Revise: Did the lesson meet the objectives? How will you revise and improve? THE ASSURE MODEL

Information about Technology: find out who else in the school is using technology in their classrooms Technology Training: take time to find out if your school offers any professional training for using and integrating technology Hardware: determine how you can upgrade your classroom computers or obtain additional hardware Software: determine what kind of software is available to you and where you can find it Other Technologies: consider other technologies and where you can find them, such as a DVD player, digital camera, projector, etc. GETTING STARTED USING TECHNOLOGY IN A NEW SCHOOL

Learning centers give the opportunity to break your classroom into many different types of learning environments without ever leaving the room Allow students to rotate around the classroom to complete projects or activities Plan different activities for each station Having students create the content makes the learning more memorable for the students LEARNING CENTERS
