Section 2: Self-Esteem Look over the survey results on pg. 36 Which answers surprised you? Why? Why not?

Section 2: Self-Esteem Self-esteem refers to how much you respect yourself and like yourself.

Section 2: Self-Esteem Benefits of High Self-Esteem: -you accept your self for who you are. -you have a realistic view of your strengths and weaknesses. -you maintain a positive attitude even when you fail at a task. -you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Section 2: Self-Esteem Research shows that if you feel good about yourself, you will set goals for yourself, ask for help when you need it, and bounce back quickly from setbacks and disappointments.

Section 2: Self-Esteem Risks of Low Self-Esteem: -don’t have much respect for themselves. -judge themselves harshly and worry about what others think about them. -”put on an act” to hide insecurities in public. -fear failure may prevent them from trying new things.
