Use social media to build your brand Personal branding is the process by which individuals differentiate themselves and stand out from a crowd by identifying and articulating their unique value, whether professional or personal, and then leveraging it across platforms with a consistent message and image.

Red Flags When someone wasn’t hired due to FB, in half of these cases, the person posted a provocative photo or had made reference to drinking or drug use. Other red flags cited were instances of someone speaking badly about a former employer, lying about their qualifications, or simply not being able to write well.

One study showed FB users are drunk in in 76 percent of their photos.

Bottom Line? Monitor your Facebook pictures and posts. Untag yourself in photos if necessary. Monitor your Facebook profile. Put settings on private. Don’t friend just anyone. Monitor what your friends post. Don’t include foul language/unprofessional behavior. Monitor your wall.
