Tablet Camp 2015 Resource Guide for Students at Klein ISD 1:1 Campuses

Day 1 – Tablet Camp Menu (Click buttons to access section content.) Section 1: Your Tablet PC Login Section 3: Log into the LMS Section 2: Activate Microsoft Office Section 6: Digital Citizenship Section 4: Log into Google Section 5: Log into DyKnow

Section 1: YOUR TABLET PC LOGIN If you haven’t changed your password: Log into one of the desktop computers in your classroom. Type your username: s and 6-digit ID# ex: s Type your password: s and 6-digit ID # ex: s It will then prompt you to change your password. After you change your password go back to your tablet and log in. Your Tablet PC Slide 1 of 2

Section 1: YOUR TABLET PC LOGIN The network login screen will appear. Select OK. Type your username: s and 6-digit ID# ex: s Type your password. Section 2: ACTIVATE OFFICE

Go to the Start Menu key. Type Word in the Search box. Open Word Activate Office Slide 1 of 2

Section 3: LOG INTO THE LMS

Section 3: LOG INTO THE LMS Log into the LMS Slide 3 of 7 Log in with your ID number as your username and password the first time. Enter your ID number only (just 6 digits, no S) Enter ID number only again (just 6 digits, no S)

Section 3: LOG INTO THE LMS Click Change Password on the new page. Log into the LMS Slide 5 of 7 Create a password you will remember but others will not guess. Enter it in both boxes. Click Submit

Section 3: IDENTIFY YOUR ADDRESS Go back to the down delta by your username. Select Settings. Select Personal Information. (Down delta > Settings> Personal Information) Log into the LMS Slide 6 of 7

Section 4: LOG INTO GOOGLE

Section 4: LOG INTO GOOGLE Log into Google Slide 2 of 3 Select Student on the StudentNet website OR Sign in at Google.comGoogle.com Username – Use the address you located in LMS in Section 3. Password – Capital S + your 6-digit Klein ISD number + Capital X Ex: s123456X

Section 4: LOG INTO GOOGLE Log into Google Slide 3 of 3 Read the new account message. Select I accept. Continue to my account. Change your Password to a new password that is at least 8 characters long. We recommend you change it to the same password you use to log into your tablet. After selecting Change password, close out of the program. You have finished logging in to Google. Click here to return to the main menu. You have finished logging in to Google. Section 5: LOG INTO DYKNOW

Go to the Start menu and type in DyKnow. Click on this program to open it. Log into DyKnow Slide 1 of 1 Log in using your ex: Your password is the same one you used to log into the computer. Section 6: DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP Having available access to the Internet and digital resources means you have responsibilities in the digital world. Throughout the year, you’ll learn more about digital citizenship and what it means to be a responsible Internet user. These topics matter to you today: Keeping your Passwords Secure Responsible Online Activity Resources on StudentNet for Citing Others’ Work Digital Citizenship Slide 1 of 5

Keep your passwords safe It’s important to keep your passwords safe. Do not share your password with anyone except your parents (not your best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, brother/sister – parents only). Do not write your password down and stick it in a safe. Remember it! Do not log into a computer and then let someone else use it. You will be held responsible for anything another person does when you are logged in. Do not leave your computer unattended while logged in. Log out if you have to leave your Tablet PC. Digital Citizenship Slide 2 of 5

In some ways, that’s helpful: Ads that are targeted to your interests Ideas for products to design Communication through social media But information can be used in negative, sometimes criminal ways: By someone who wants to embarrass or bully you By plagiarists who want to claim your content as their own By companies who want to use your information in ways that affect you negatively

Be responsible online Universities and colleges may not accept you. Companies may reject your job application or find reasons to fire you. Criminals build profiles of people to scam identities, hack, steal property, physically harm others, and more. Insurance companies use information posted online in blogs, Facebook, Instagram, etc. to deny coverage of medical and auto claims. Be aware of the use and value that your online presence and actions have for others and act with them in mind. Be responsible online. Digital Citizenship Slide 4 of 5

Responsible use includes academic integrity Easy access to resources makes it easy to create better products than you can sometimes do on your own. While using others’ resources makes your work better, be sure to credit your sources. Citation Generators on StudentNet make it easier to cite sources.
