COS HONORS PROGRAM

The COS Honors program is created to offers students the opportunity to expand and enrich their educational journey. Specific courses are designed to present to the dedicated and committed student an opportunity to reach a greater breadth and depth of their academic and intellectual potential. The COS Honors program establishes greater academic rigor through offering collaborative interaction in themed and threaded coursework. Students who are accepted into the Honors program will benefit by engaging in enriched course work in the areas of Social Science, Humanities, Science and Business/Economics. A one unit colloquium is added into a designated Honors course each semester, providing the students the opportunity to integrate and emphasize the knowledge gained in the core courses. Benefits to students accepted into the COS Honors program include, but are not limited to:

COS HONORS PROGRAM Small class sizes (25 or less) *Priority Enrollment for ALL classes *Assistance with TAG (transfer agreement) to UC’s or CSU’s *Specialized curriculum geared towards critical thinking and analysis *Participation in student cohorts *Interaction through field trips and schedule socialized events *Interaction with dedicated Honors staff and faculty *The opportunity to graduate with Honors distinction, Honors notation upon their diploma, Honor’s notation upon their transcript, Honors recognition letter, inclusion in CV’s, … Bookstore voucher

COS HONORS PROGRAM Requirements include graduation of the upper 10 percent of one’s high school class, a 3.5 GPA in high school classes and completion of the COS Honors program application. (OR) Current COS students must also meet requirements denoted in the application and have at least 6 semester hours of college level courses with a 3.5 GPA in core courses.
