Tanajah Williams

 Sojourner Truth was born in 1797 in Rifton, New York. She died on November 26, She was an African-American abolitionist and women’s right activist. Truth was born into slavery in Ulster County, NY. She then escaped with her infant daughter to freedom in 1826.

 Fredrick Douglass was born on February in the year of He died on February 20 th, Douglass was an African- American social reformer, orator, writer and statesman. After escaping from slavery, he became a leader of the abolitionist movement, gaining note for his dazzling oratory and incisive antislavery writing.

 Harriet Tubman was born in 1820 in Dorchester County, MD. She died on March 10 th, She was married to Nelson Davis and John Tubman. Tubman was an African-American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the American Civil War.

 The Edmonson sisters were Mary Edmonson and Emily Edmonson. Mary was born in 1832 and died in Emily was born in 135 and died in They were both African-American slaves who tried to make a daring escape to freedom in Alexandria. Born to a free father and an enslaved mother in Maryland, the Edmonson sisters tried to escape slavery by boarding a ship called The Pearl.

She was a largely behind-the- scenes organizer whose career spanned over five decades.  Rosa Parks was born on February 4 th, 1913 in Tuskegee, AL and died on October 24 th, 2005 in Detroit, MI. She was an African-American civil rights activist. The U.S Congress called her the “first lady of Civil Rights” and the mother of the freedom movement. She won the awards Presidential Movement of Freedom and Spingarn Medal
