3 The movement for racial equality in the United States, known as the civil rights movement, Started in the late 1950s. The movement also achieved the passage of equal-rights laws in the mid-1960s intended to end discrimination against people because of their race. CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT

4 Rosa Parks was an African-American woman who refused to give up her seat while she was riding the community bus. Usually, African-Americans are forced to be seated in the back of the bus, so the white passengers would be able to seat where ever they would like to sit. ROSA PARKS

9 Harriet Tubman escapes from slavery and becomes one of the most effective and celebrated leaders of the Underground Railroad; organized system for helping fugitive slaves escape to Canada or to areas of safety in free states. UNDERGROUND RAILROAD.
