Tutor Responsibilities Drive with your partner when picking up or taking your student home. Students always need to be seat-belted in the BACKSEAT. Kids under 8 years of age need a booster seat. Seek assistance from Liaison Teacher or Coordinator when needed. Come prepared with your bag, manual, activities and a plan for your time. Be sure to include 20 minutes of reading. Tutor Tips Remember that praise will go a long way with your student! Whenever possible, give your student choices, i.e., “Would you like to read first or do homework?” Show kind firmness instead of nagging or threats— “I know you want to get up and move around. We’ll do that after 20 minutes of reading.”

Tutor Tips Consistency is an important element to connecting with your student. You are a tutor and a mentor. Be a listening friend that cares and is interested.

Inclement Weather School districts close schools Students are sent home early because of snow. There is an accident alert where you tutor. Your coordinator cancels tutoring. You don’t feel safe driving.** ** In this case, please be sure to call your student and coordinator. Tutoring may be canceled if:
