There are three states of matter a solid, liquid, and a gas Matter is anything that has mass What is Matter?

Solid A solid's particles are packed together. The particle can only vibrate they can not move. A solid has a definite shape. A solid has a definite (fixed) size.

Liquid A l i q u i d h a s n o d e f i n i t e s h a p e. I t t a k e s u p t h e s h a p e o f t h e c o n t a i n e r. I t h a s n o f i x e d s i z e. T h e p a r t i a l s m o v e s l o w. p a r t i c l e s m o v e m o r e f r e e l y t h e n s o l i d s.

Gas A gas has no definite shape. The particals move fast and they also move free

Mass Mass is the amount of matter making an object.

Properties Properties are things an object has for example the picture of the rubber ball is round, smells like rubber, is solid, bouncy those are properties of a ball. More examples of properties are shape, size, color, buoyancy, and texture.

Area Do you know a what area is. Area is the number of square units inside an object. Area is measured in square inches and centimeters. The formula is Length x Widthh

Perimeter Premier is area around an object. To the get the perimeter you need to add all 4 or more sides.

Plasma Plasma is to gasses intermixed. It is the most common state of matter.

Volume Do you know what volume is? Volume is how much space an object takes up the formula for volume is length x width x hight. A solids volume is measured in cubic inches centimeters. To fined out the volume of an object get a graduated cylinder fill it with water and place the object in the water however many units it rose is its volume.

The three R's There is some thing called the three R's reduce reuse and recycle. That means to clean up the world.

Density Density is the amount of matter in a given space.

Weight Weight is the pull of gravity. If you went to the moon there is less gravity so your weight would be 1/6 of your normal weight.

Mixture A mixture is two or more types of matter combined. In a mixture each object keeps its original properties. Examples: mixed vestibules, salt water, and grape juice. A solution is a mixture blended completely

Periodic Table A periodic Table is a table with matter arranged in atomic numbers, usually in rows so that elements with a similar atomic structure appear in the same columns.

Compound A compound is when two or more elements are combined chemically. Each element looses it's properties when combined. examples salt, sugar, and rust

Physical change A physical change begins and ends with the same type of matter. Heat energy and loss of heat energy causes matter to change. The mass of the object stays the same.

Atom Atoms of one element are alike. they are the smallest particals of an element

Elements Elements are the building blocks of matter. they are made up of only 1 type of matter. examples: Gold,Silver, and Oxygen.

Alloy Mixing metal with another object makes it stronger. It is a mixture two or more elements one must be metal.

Chemical Change Chemical change is a change In matter of self. It involves energy either takes or gives it of. the new matter has different properties. examples: Penny + vinegar Vapor = copper acitate.
