Illinois Board of Higher Education Policy Statement – “Diversity” Our Policy The Illinois Board of Higher Education recognizes that student and faculty diversity enhances the education of all students and offers direct and indirect public benefits to our state and nation. Diverse learning environments positively affect students’ critical thinking skills, their civic commitment, and preparation for work in a global economy, among other benefits. The Illinois Board of Higher Education and its public colleges and universities are committed to making the utmost efforts, and using all legal means, to advance diversity in higher education.
