1 The Strategic Plan for 2015 – 2020 Growing Alabama’s International University Approved by the Board of Trustees of Troy University July 11, 2015

2 Process Individual interviews with BOT members. Discussions and input from Chancellor, SVCs, Deans. Reviewed by Dr. Hawkins. Reviewed with changes by BOT Committee Briefing to BOT on July 10, 2015 Break out discussions by BOT. Adjusted plan approved by BOT on July 11, 2015. Champions identified in August, 2015. Development of Action Plans by October.

3 Vision Be recognized as Alabama’s premier international university that provides affordable access to high quality education for traditional, adult and military students. → Eight institutional goals. → Each goal has a set of Key Performance Measures. → Each goal has a set of Objectives. → Each objective will have a Champion, an implementation team and an Action Plan defined this fall.

Grow Enrollments Key Measures: New Starts, Total enrollments, Transfers, Credit Hour Production, Academic Programs offered, Programs Online. 9 Objectives including: Build MOU partnerships Grow Graduate Programs Innovative recruiting practices Expand STEM Offerings Blend in-class and online programs Expand health care offerings Enhance retention Increase CC transfers Add recruiters in Birmingham and Mobile More internships

5 2. Collegiate Experience Key Measures: Student retention, completion rates, employment, graduate school acceptance. Six objectives: New Recreation Facility Future of the Library Expand Greek Life Work with at-risk students Winning Athletics eTROY student services

6 3. Maintain affordability Key Measures: Tuition, Fees, Fundraising, Grants, Facilities costs, faculty and staff productivity. Four objectives: Continue Right Sizing Reduce Facility Costs Endowed Scholarships Increase Grant Awards

7 4. International Perspective Key Measures: International student enrollments, domestic students studying abroad. Six objectives : Create overseas study-abroad locations. Increase domestic and international student interactions. Expand enrollments of international students in Alabama. Expand enrollments at international sites. Expand international enrollments online. Enhance faculty to become Global Scholars.

8 5. Military Focus Key Measures: Active duty enrollments, Guard and Reserve enrollments, Veteran enrollments. Three objectives: Increase service at military bases. Increase number of Troy For Troops Centers. Increase contact with Reserve and Guard units.

Values and Diversity Key Measures: Number of students in leadership courses, number of students in professional organizations, number of students in Greek organizations, diversity in leadership, faculty, staff, and students. Seven objectives: Strong Board leadership Student engagement Robust Campus Advisory Boards Students in leadership courses Harness Alumni involvement University-friendly Troy Maintain diversity leadership and address issues in leadership

10 7. Alumni Involvement Key Measures: Number of students recruited through alumni initiatives, alumni participation in events and continuing education, and planned giving commitments. Four Objectives: New collaboration on recruiting students. New emphasis on planned giving. Increase alumni participation in campus events and continuing ed. Increase overall communication with alumni.

11 8. Promote Economic Growth Key Measures: Economic development contracts, STEM graduates, arts performances in communities, Graduate degrees awarded. Eight Objectives: Arts programming Aviation, Biomedical, STEM Entrepreneurship Water Resources Policy New PC Campus International Trade Montgomery Campus Cross-cultural understanding
