Membership Numbers Recap 28,542 as of June 30, 2011 ↓ 0.5% compared to prior year

Membership Numbers Recap By type of member: Public Agency groups –↑ 0.9% –↓ 0.5% rostered members Corporate groups –↑ 1.1% –↑ 0.1% rostered members Student groups –↑ 67% –↑ 4% rostered members One-Call Center groups –Very slight decrease Individual ↓ 2.4% Student Individual ↓ 2.3% Retired Individual ↑ 3.9% Life Individual ↑ 5.3%

Membership Numbers Recap Canadian Membership: ↑ 6.2% Canadian members now represent 7.75% of total APWA membership

Membership Retention 86.07% of our members renewed Retention of the 1 st Time Member campaign, still running between 60-70% 55 of 63 chapters have retention of 82% or better “Welcome” calls to new members

Recruitment Campaigns First Time Member Special Offer $70 US or $76 CN (+ chapter dues if applicable) –1306 new members as of August 8th –campaign continues through Dec 31, 2011 Former Member Campaigns –3 campaigns –50 people re-established memberships National Vacancy Campaign –371 vacancies 262 agencies/companies –121 filled 105 agencies/companies

Projects for … Develop online tutorial videos Develop means for offering branch dues collection services, similar to that for chapter dues Exploration of a new member benefit structure Survey members current use of social media Increase infoNOW subscribers and conversations; ultimately better marketing infoNOW as member benefit Getting all chapter leaders to set up an APWA.NET login and utilize web resources Utilizing new staff position to build chapter capacity

What you can do to help … Help Promote the First Time Member Special Offer Establish a membership team/committee at your chapter (and branches if applicable) and assist in development of a 12-month Membership Plan for your chapter Encourage your membership team to utilize the resources in the Recruitment Toolkit, the Retention Toolkit, and the Student Member Toolkit – all online and available to all members (in Member Tools)
