The Four Types of Sentences: Declarative Imperative Interrogative Exclamatory
Declarative A sentence that makes a statement or gives facts and ends with a period. Example: I wore a black dress to the party.
Imperative A sentence that makes a request or gives a command and ends with a period. Examples: Wash the dishes after dinner. (command) Please buy me some new perfume. (request)
Can you play Nintendo DS? Interrogative A sentence that asks a question and ends with a question mark. Example: Do you have a new ipod? Can you play Nintendo DS?
Exclamatory A sentence that shows strong emotion or excitement and ends with an exclamation mark. Example: Watch out for that car! The house is on fire!
