School Sport Apprenticeship Whole School Initiatives

Taking a whole school approach to improve standards of behaviour and learning through sport Learning through Sport

Young Leaders Award Accredited award that you can deliver in your schools award-multimedia /

Young Leaders Can help with lunchtime and break time activities Could be a wider initiative such as a sports council Could be a group of leaders that will help deliver a sports event Could be activity leaders who help with after school clubs and competitive sport

Engaging the whole school Non physical competitions – great to get ‘non-sporty’ involved Physical competitions – great way to create a school unity Can draw attention to bigger issues; participation, Olympic and Paralympic Games, celebration of pupil achievement

Shift of focus Build up to London 2012 Legacy and celebration of London 2012 London 2012 events London 2012 athletes London 2012 inspirational moments New sports Looking ahead to Rio 2016 OR non London 2012 focus!!

Your school, your ideas Think about what initiatives you would like to put into place at your school. If you had free range, what initiatives would you put into place at your school? You need to present your thoughts to the rest of the group. You need to present 2 ideas 1.Non physical activity based 2.Physical activity based

Things to consider Theme? Competition or non competitive? Target groups? Length of initiative? One off / one term / weekly… Who needs to be involved and where will it take place? How are you going to present it to the children? How will you promote the initiative once it is complete / during its completion?
