1 Leighton Linslade School Sports Partnership Supporting PE and School Sport in local schools

2 National Landscape £150 million a year ring fenced for PE and School Sport Initially for 2 academic years 2013/14 & 2014/15 In December 2013 – Extended to include 2015/16 as part of Autumn Statement Key Focuses for the funding Raising whole school standards in PE and School Sport Improving teacher confidence and competence in delivering PE and School Sport. Ofsted priority when assessing overall provision Schools to publish details of their provision on their websites Schools accountable for spending Ofsted Priority Areas Funding use to build PE and Sport into whole school plan to underpin School standards Develop effective development plans to improve provision and outcomes in and through PE, Physical Activity and School Sport Develop capacity and quality of practitioners and deliverers, including having an effective PE Coordinator Develop young people involvement and voice Develop strong partnership with other schools, agencies and organisations that bring added quality, expertise, value and/ or provision.

3 Leighton Linslade SSP Key Targets Provide a local infrastructure that develops PE and School Sport opportunities for young people. To encourage young people to lead healthy, active lifestyles and to create opportunities for the least active. To increase young people’s participation in community sport through creating and strengthening links with local clubs.

6 Leighton Linslade SSP Story so far....... Leadership Training 124 different Yr 8’s Sports Leaders have attended training in 7 Sports (so far.) 2014/15 Supporting over 40 School Games Level 1 Competitions for Key Stage 1 & 2 50 Silver Young Ambassadors have been trained to support PE Departments to promote and encourage other young people to become engaged in PE and School Sport. Over 150 different young leaders have been deployed to help at Level 2 events for Key Stage 1 and 2 Students. (20 different sports including Inclusive festivals) Key roles : Team Managers, Scorers, Officials, Time Keepers, Presenters and General duties) Bikeability. Over 400 Students – each year trained to Level 2 Over 70 Students –each year trained to Level 3 National Accreditation In 2011/12 we had ZERO schools achieve even Bronze Award In 2012/13 we had 2 Bronze and 3 Silver accredited Schools In 2013/14 we had 1 Silver and 4 Gold accredited In 2014/15 target is 5 Gold’s of which at least 2 or 3 are Gold + As a Local School’s network in 2014/15 Achieved Top 5 % status for School Games Participation from 480 partnerships

A, B and SEN level competitions Leagues in Football, Netball Progression to Level 3 Competitions in 11 Sports School Games – Key Stage 3 27 One Off Competitions in 18 different Sports. A, B and SEN level competitions Leagues in Football, Netball, Rugby, Cricket & Hockey Progression to Level 3 Competitions in 19 Sports Level 3 - Honours – Two many to list ! – Top Partnership in Summer 2014 & Winter 2015 Games

8 Leighton Linslade SSP The next steps forward...... Build on existing foundations and infrastructure. Sustain high levels of engagement in programmes and events Develop new and exciting opportunities for our young people. Encourage young people to make transition from School Sport to Community Sport. Promote Health and Active lifestyles for all young people, engage and energize the less active. Junior Club Champions Pilot to recruit young people aged 11 - 14 and use their inspiration, ambition and energy to encourage other you people to make the transition from school to community sports and become regular participants in sports within club environments Energize Sports Club Red area for Yr 6 Obesity under NHS Bedfordshire Weights and Measures programme. 8 week PILOT programme for 12 targeted students in Year 5/6. Building on concepts of Change 4 Life Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Activity to the less active Delivered by professional tutors highly experienced in health, well being and physical activity development. Part funded NHS Beds, SSP & School £400 investment from NHS Befordshire £400 investment from LLSSP Minimum £100 investment from each school
