How do I sell it? Sales Process Leverage your existing relationships with the utility. Qualify the opportunity: Determine if utility has already made an AMI decision. If so, is there an opportunity for VZ to provide “gap fill” in the hard to reach areas? Can I get a file of meter locations to run coverage analysis for you? If utility hasn’t deployed an AMI system, is there an RFP? Can I get a copy? Does the utility have a budgeted project? If not, have they considered an “opt in” program? Once you find a lead, bring in SmartSynch to do a joint pitch of the VZ / SmartSynch solution. Utilities want to buy from an expert in the field. They will have questions about coverage, security, meter types, software functionality, references, etc.
