The Participle Verb form used as an adjective 2 kinds:  Present participles end in “-ing”  Past participles end in “-d” or “- ed”  Some past participles may be irregular

Present Participle Our soccer team had a winning season. Shivering with cold, we decided to go indoors. I saw three kittens sleeping on the floor.

Be careful! Don’t confuse participles with verb phrases!  Working in her garden, Mrs. Jacobs hummed softly to herself.  Mrs. Jacobs was working in her garden.
