Master Trainer’s Contribution Saksham has trained a total of 719 Master Trainers (with Induction and Refresher training) so far. Saksham presently has a pool of 499 available Master Trainers Saksham MTs have so far trained 14,052 HIV/AIDS counsellors and 24x7 PHC nurses located in: -ICTCs, - FICTCs - ART - STI - PPP - TI - Mobile ICTCs

Challenges in building the pool of Master Trainers MTs are persons associated with Saksham. Majority of them are working in paid jobs elsewhere. Most dropout Master Trainers were unable to give their time for regular training sessions over the four year period Most MTs were unable to get four days leave for the refresher trainings planned by Saksham

Plans for future - Master Trainers More focus on understanding social drivers of the epidemic- gender, sexuality, stigma, social exclusion and marginalization, migration, gender based violence, and such others to engage with vulnerability issues Lack of thrust on counselling for linkages with appropriate services- TB, STIs- treatment adherence counselling, preventing loss to follow up Enhancement of skills in the use of ‘self’ in the counselling process Enhancement of skills in counselling couples, from TI, MSM, migrant populations
