ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Please think of what you are grateful for. Complete NUMBER 1…only on the worksheet… “I am grateful/thankful for…” Keep in the front of your binder…behind the Thought for the Day worksheet 

OBJECTIVES: I CAN… Name the five dimensions of wellness. Explain how one dimension can impact another dimension. Identify the four determinants of health. Identify examples that belong to each determinant.

Social Wellness Refers to relationships with the people that you interact with. Value diversity. It also includes the ability to be a productive member of society.

Refers to the health of your body. Physical Wellness Refers to the health of your body. It also includes proper self-care and the avoiding of substances that will harm your body.

Intellectual Wellness Refers to the condition of the mind. The ability to gather knowledge through learning experiences. It also includes applying learning experiences to every day life through decision making and problem solving.

Emotional Wellness Refers to the ability to handle your feelings/emotions in a positive way. It also includes the ability to express yourself, practice self-control and evaluate your individual behaviors.

Spiritual Wellness Refers to the belief that life has meaning and a purpose. It also includes growth towards the spirit of the heart; Inner peace. Setting goals.

What feelings do they experience the most in a day? S piritual – What do they VALUE/BELIEVE? What GOALS do they have? What do or who do they LOVE?

Activity- Holistic Health social emotional Identify the two dimensions listed on your paper. List an example, from a teenager’s life, of how one of the dimensions affects the other dimension. Share examples with the class.

Factors that Determine Health Write the following abbreviations next to the appropriate factor on the Factors that Determine Health worksheet: HB=Health Behavior PE=Physical Environment H=Heredity HCS=Health Care Services

Health Word List: Code the two column word list, examples of determinants, using the abbreviations from the Factors that Determine Health worksheet.

Personal Health Behavior Refers to the patterns of behavior that affect your health both now and in the future. 51% of deaths are contributed to this determinant.

Physical Environment Refers to your surroundings – any place that you live, work, and play. 20% of deaths are contributed to this determinant.

Health Care Services Refers to the quality of health care you have available to you helps to determine your general health. 9% of deaths are contributed to this determinant.
