Grade 7 Curriculum ✴ Specific curriculum outcomes for each subject can be linked directly from our class webpage. ✴ Tonight is meant to provide a brief, but concise, summary/outline of the Grade Seven curriculum in English Language Arts and Social Studies. A course outline was provided for English and Social Studies on the first day.

Assessment and Evaluation Assessment = ongoing/daily collection of data and information through a variety of means to gauge and understand an individual students learning and needs Evaluation = the act of interpreting the data and information gathered for the purpose of making decisions about students learning and needs. Grade Seven/Eight Students receive a Letter Grade Grade Nine Numerical / Percentage Grades (not letter!) Rubrics…know them, refer to them!! Exams - Cumulative (worth 25% of Term 3)

Powerschool / Gradebook Information – including username and password - was sent home this week. It is your ‘portal’ into your child’s academic results.

Websites / Homework My homework page is updated daily/weekly ! There is no need to guess or wonder whether or not there is homework!! (Just as many parents use it as students.)

How can you help ? Monitor homework (“talk” and monitor class websites) Monitor child’s progress… track effort and performance Encourage routines (homework habits?) Provide support with homework (if necessary) Sign all tests/quizzes (there should be no surprises!) Read notices, sign, and return ASAP (if necessary) Communicate / Ask Questions Model, promote, and encourage reading !! Working Together
