Getting Video in 2 or 3 easy steps 1.Download 2.Convert (Optional) 2.Convert (Optional) 3.Use

Download For TeacherTube when you create an account and log in there will be a download button available to download the movie.

Download YouTube doesn't have a download option so we have to go to a website that will download the video we want.  Find the YouTube video you want to download and copy its URL from the address bar of your browser.

Download Youtube Continued Go to keepvid.com and paste the URL in the text box and select “Youtube” from the drop- down menu and hit download  It will then display a download link below. Click the.flv or.mp4(if available) and a download prompt should appear.

Download Youtube Continued.mp4 files are preferred because they are higher quality, but they are not always available..flv are flash video and are lower quality but are always available.  For.flv files you might have to type out the.flv at the end of the file when you are saving it. If it just says get_video and there is no.flv at the end, then give it a proper name and add the.flv at the end (see below)

Convert??? Now that you have the video you need to decide what you want to do with it.  If you just want to play the video there is a free media player called VLC that will play both.flv or.mp4 videos. Just go to and download install the windows version.  If you want to embed the video into a Power Point presentation or you need to be able to use windows media player then you'll need to convert the video.

Converting to.mpg If you decided that you want to convert the files to a more useful format then open a browser and go to  In the File box browse to the file you saved earlier  For the input format box make sure “Flash Video (.flv)” or MPEG-4(.mp4) is selected, depending on which type you are converting.  In the output box select “MPEG 1(.mpg) in the second box.

Converting to.mpg Continued Hit OK, and wait...wait...wait. When the file successfully converts hit the blue download button and a download prompt will appear.

Embedding Videos into PowerPoint Go To Insert > Movies and Sound > Movie From File. Browse to Where you have the file saved and double click on it When prompted decide whether you want the movie to play automatically or when clicked –When inserting movies into PowerPoint its best to have the movies and the PowerPoint file in the same folder –When you transfer the PowerPoint you must also transfer the movies, so it is helpful to just save them all to a flash drive or burn them all to a CD

Embedding to PowerPoint Cont. Adjust the size of the movie by clicking and dragging the corners –Try to keep the same ratio of length and width or the movie might appear blank –Be sure to test by viewing your slideshow and making sure the movie plays.

Embed into Web Page To Embed movies into a webpage you do not have to download the movie. When users visit your page and play the movie, the movie will actually stream straight from youtube or teachertube even though its appearing on your page.

Embed into Web Page Cont. Find the Embed text to the right of the video on teachertube or youtube Copy the text and paste it into the source/html code of your webpage

Embed into Web Page Cont. For TeacherWeb Pages Create an “All Purpose” page Edit the Page and click the “HTLM Source” tab at the bottom of the editing box Delete any existing Code and copy and paste all the video codes into the page and submit.
