So – You want to learn how to put an article onto the state website. (Note: If you have not done so, you will need to review the web training provided by the webmaster. One problem noted so far is that you must be in the 32 bit mode in Internet Explorer 9 if you are using IE9 in Windows 7 or a 64 bit computer. When you go to the webpage, you will be instructed to download JAVA 7. The current Update is 13. JAVA takes about 3-5 minutes to completely install. Then you will be able to watch the Web training. Please Continue to the next page. TEK2013

Go to USER LOGIN and type in your USER NAME and PASSWORD TEK2013

Ensure you use the correct USERNAME and PASSWORD as given by the Webmaster. This will take you to the Publicity working page. Note: The USERNAME is publicity in this example. TEK2013

The next thing you need to do is to click on the FILE BROWSER on your page. In this case, you would make sure it is the “publicity” page. That will open up the main document listing.

TEK2013 When you click on File Browser, you will see a listing of files that you will be able to import into the website. Look at the left hand side and you will see and sub-folders such as docs, Columbian, Publicity, etc. In this example, you are working with publicity files. If you title is different, then select from the files under your title. Click on your folder.

TEK2013 Click on the “green” upload tag and that will open up the first box where you will be working to get your update information into the web.

TEK2013 While in the FILE box, you will use the browse button to look at all the files of your area of expertise i.e. publicity. While there, you will select the file to be uploaded. (See next slide)

TEK2013 When you find the file you want to upload, click on that file in the browser window that has appeared. This will put the file name into the file name box.

TEK2013 Now, to get the document onto the web, the next step is to use ADD CONTENT under the Navigation Heading. (Note: When you uploaded the file, it will show up in the file name listing.

TEK2013 When you click on the ADD CONTENT, you will see the following screen. This is where you really give your article its title and tag. There is a lot of work to do on this page and when done, your product will be done.

TEK2013 Now we have to select the format (where the yellow circle is) to provide a larger heading so that it will “POP” out at the reader. Look at the next slide.

TEK2013 When we click on the format, we can decide what type of a font size we will use. It is best to use Heading 1 so that it will be more visible (larger) to the reader.

TEK2013 Below, you will see that the publicity author would have typed in the January Membership Newsletter. Also, the next line, when typed, will be using the normal type format and reads “Click the link below to display…”. Next we will add the link.

TEK2013 To provide the link, you will type in the name of the document, in this case “January Membership Newsletter”. You will of course use the title of your own document.

TEK2013 If you did not place your mouse over the “January Membership Newsletter” and made it become highlighted, then you need to do it now. When you have it highlighted, go to the “LINK” symbol above your text and click the link symbol.

TEK2013 When you open the “LINK”, you will now be able to select your document from the browser file. So, click on Browse Server now.

TEK2013 When you click on “Browse Server”, the document listing files will show up on the screen. Scroll up or down and select the document you want to put onto the web page.

TEK2013 Now, click on the “TARGET” tag.

TEK2013 This will allow you to open your document in a new window. So, select “New Window (_blank).

TEK2013 Now you will see the earlier window with the large type heading. Now, click on the highlighted link below (in blue). Next you will be saving your work so that you can review what you put on the web.

TEK2013 Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the “Save” button. Click on “Save” now to protect your work.

TEK2013 Now you are at the main heading screen (Front Page) on the State website with your document being the first one listed. Click on the “Home” tab at the top of the page to allow you to see what others will be seeing when they visit the website.

TEK2013 There is your masterpiece for anyone with web access to read, review and copy or make notes from it.

Congratulations The End TEK2013
