How to summarize a piece of nonfiction? ll

Put students in a group of six and have each student read aloud one paragraph of the article. For students who can’t read yet, the teacher will read to them.

Place students in groups of six. On a very big piece of paper write down or draw solutions to the problem. On another very big piece of paper write down or draw evidence that supports the solution. On another very big piece of paper write down or draw which solution the group would decide to use. On another very big piece of paper have the group write down or draw how this may apply to own experience.

Have each group use a specific colored marker to fill in the information on the big papers. Start out with each group having one big piece of paper and after ten minutes the paper gets passed around to another group until each paper has all four colored markers representing each group.

As a class organize information about Tennis Elbow Make a graphic organizer with three big circles being the central idea. Each circle will contain one solution to the problem. Then make three squares for each circle containing evidence for each solution.
