Goals for 2011(1) l Empowering Sections/Chapters – Establish mechanisms to guide, advice and assist IEEE volunteers to meet the needs of members – Develop and adopt effective, accountable and transparent entity governance

Goals for 2011(2) l To assist Sections with inactive Chapters/AGs especially 3 years inactive l To assist the Sections who have less than 15 meeting activities l To assist Sections in formation of Subsection l To assist Subsections elevation to Sections To achieve the above, various visits and training sessions shall be conducted with support from the local sections as well as electronic communications.

Goals for 2011(3) l To establish the Section/Chapter training materials put in Website l To collect the highlight activities information for the whole section/chapter put in the website l To make some visiting to sections

Various countries have been communicated to assist in formation of new sections or subsection as follows : 1.Laos 2.Tai Chung, Taiwan 3.Myanmar 4.Cambodia

4. Visit to Sections 1. Visit to Sri Lanka May 2010 The IEEE Region 10 Section Coordinator visited Sri Lanka namely the city of Colombo and Kandy from May The trip was partially supported by IEEE PES via the Chapter Vice President Meliha Selak in the form of air-fare KL-Colombo- KL. The trip was initiated with the request from the Sri Lanka Section Chair Dr Lilantha Samaranayake to conduct a workshop for the section and chapters committee members. Then the PES membership drive and chapter formation was included in this trip with technical seminars added to optimize the visit. The initial schedule is as below.

Visit to Japan August 2010 The IEEE Region 10 Sections coordinator and the IEEE Region 10 Chapter coordinator visited Japan to conduct workshop “How to make your Sections and Chapters more vibrant”. It was scheduled as below: Monday August 2, 2010conducted for Nagoya Section, Tokyo Section, Sapporo Section and Japan Council Chapter operations officers Wednesday August 4, 2010conducted for Sendai Section officers

l Chapters were also formed in the following countries where there is no section. This will bring more countries in R10 and IEEE map with increase in membership and popularity of IEEE. Maldives, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam Nepal and Mongolia l Chapter and section coordinator conducted a workshop for the sections of Japan at Tokyo and Sendai in Report on Chapter Activities

l Chapter Activities webpages was created and regularly updated. Details on society/council chapters (existing and potential for new) of each section are posted on the R10 website as a ready reference for section/chapter volunteers. Volunteers in sections and chapters found it very handy and making use of these information for managing their chapters effectively and efficiently. l Deepak Mathur, R10 Chapter Coordinator received 2010 MGA Achievement Award for his efforts in member development by engaging Region 10 members through enhanced chapter activities.
