 Through internal and external partnerships, ICISP develops and provides cost-effective programs, services, and opportunities for the constituencies it serves—students, faculty, administrators, staff, business and community members—to promote cultural diversity, global awareness, competency and understanding.  ICISP is a regional source of leadership and cooperation, a catalyst and facilitator, which promotes international education and cultural diversity.

 Founded in 1986  First study abroad program began Spring 1987 (London, England)  ICISP offered its first 2-Week Faculty/Administrators Exchange in 1989  In 1991, ICISP offered its first summer study abroad program (Queretaro, Mexico)  ICISP received a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Grant sending faculty to China in 1994  ICISP received a second Fulbright to Zimbabwe in 1995  In 2006, ICISP celebrated its 20 th anniversary  ICISP received a 2-year IFSA grant in 2007, which provided a total of $70,000 in scholarships for students participating in semester study abroad  In October of 2011, ICISP celebrated its 25 th anniversary

 The ICISP Executive Board consists of the ICISP Executive Chair, Vice Chair, Membership Secretary, ICISP/Host Institution Liaison, and the Study Abroad Coordinators.  The Governing Board is comprised of all of the member institutions’ representatives (1-3 per institution) with each institution selecting one of its representatives to serve as its voting representative.  The ICISP Executive and Governing Boards typically meet twice each semester and once during the summer.  The ICISP office is managed by the ICISP Program Assistant, located at Heartland Community College, who reports directly to ICISP Chair and ICISP/Host Institution Liaison.

 Opportunities for Students  Semester Study Abroad to Austria, China, England, Ireland & Spain  Summer Study Abroad to Austria, Costa Rica, England, France, India & Spain  Approximately 2000 students have studied abroad with ICISP  Opportunities for Faculty/Staff  Semester Visiting Faculty Opportunities to Austria, England, Ireland & Spain  Summer Assistant Director Opportunity to Costa Rica  Approximately 140 ICISP faculty/staff have served as visiting faculty or assistant directors for ICISP programs  Two-Week International Professional Exchange to China, Finland & the Netherlands (Roughly 650 participants to date)  Cost-effective workshops at member institutions for the internationalization of the curriculum

 ICISP Consortial Study Abroad Programs:  ICISP receives and processes the applications and conducts the pre-program orientation. Students register and receive credit for courses with assistance from the ICISP representative at their home institution. The ICISP Program Assistant sends the grades to the ICISP representative, who records the grades for the student with the Registrar’s Office. Canterbury, England (Canterbury Christ Church University) Carlow, Ireland (Carlow College) Salzburg, Austria (Salzburg College) Seville, Spain (International College of Seville)  ICISP Sponsored Programs:  Students apply through the ICISP member institution offering the program which also conducts the pre-program orientation. Students register and receive credit for courses with assistance from the ICISP representative at their home institution. The ICISP Program Assistant sends the grades to the ICISP representative, who records the grades for the student with the Registrar’s Office. Dijon, France (University of Bourgogne): Students apply through Parkland Community College Hyderabad, India (English and Foreign Language University): Students apply through Oakton Community College San Jos é, Costa Rica (Costa Rican Language Academy): Students apply through the College of DuPage Xi’an, China (Xi’an International University): Students apply through College of Lake County  ICISP Member Programs:  ICISP permits its member institutions to post their study abroad programs on the ICISP website. However, ICISP is not involved in any aspect of Member Programs and accepts no liability or responsibility for any aspect of these program.
