2 LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS: PROFILE A High Growth “Edge City” –3 rd Largest and 2nd Fastest Growing County –1 st in Business Growth –Highly Educated Population and Workforce Home to a Community College and Eight Small Private Institutions Limited Access to a Public University Situated in a State with Modest Population Growth and Sufficient Educational Capacity

3 EDUCATIONAL GOALS Instruction at the Bachelor’s and Master’s Levels with Programs Articulated with Lake County College Emphasis upon Credit and Degree Instruction Instruction at Times and Formats Convenient for Working Adults Emphasis on High Need Programs

4 GOVERNANCE AND POWERS Eleven Member Board Consisting of –Six Local Members (Including One Community College Trustee) –Four Members from Participating Institutions –One Student Chair and Vice Chair, Alternate from Community and Campus Academic Committee with 7 Public/7 Private Members from Participating Institutions Advises the Board Center Does not Grant Degrees or Employ Faculty

5 OPERATIONS AND FACILITIES Faculty From Member Institutions Small Staff –Student and Institutional Services –Teacher Education Center New $28 Million Facility Scheduled for Completion in 2004 –27 classrooms + specialized instruction space –Computer laboratories and excellent distance learning capability

7 CURRENT PROGRAM AND STUDENT PROFILE 38 Degree Programs Offered – 13 Baccalaureate Degree Completion Programs – 17 Master’s Degree Programs In Spring 2002, 142 Courses Offered In Spring, 2002, 1,500 Students Enrolled (15 to 20 Percent Semester Growth Rate)
