1 The Role of the Office Institutional Research and Program Assessment at Baruch College Presented by: John Choonoo, Director Jimmy Jung, Assistant Director Business Managers Network Meeting February 24 th, 2005

2 Mission and Goals The mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Program Assessment (OIRPA) is to compile, maintain, and analyze institutional and other data to support the operation, decision-making, and planning functions of the College Goals: –Provide reliable and accurate statistics for internal and external consumption –Provide data support for the College’s planning process –Develop evaluation plans and instruments for outcome assessment –Conduct in-depth survey research and analysis –Coordinate external reporting for the College (e.g., US News and World Report, The College Board, and Princeton Review)

3 Staff and Expertise The OIRPA consist of four staff members: –Director, assistant director, graduate assistant, and college assistant –Reports to the vice president & provost for academic affairs Expertise: –Economic policy analysis –Psychometrics –Program evaluation –Market research –Database management –Advance statistical analysis
