Workshop Presentation BNE 03

Workshop title Our team title and symbol has combine together as our website logo as you can see below.

List of team member & outlines of their roles or specialisations 0 Team Coordinator: Student ID Sheng-Hung (Andy) Wang s Head Designer: Weinan Cao s Head Researcher: Xintian (Jessie) Su s Team member: Ying (Mia) Yu s

Brief synopsis or introductory statement 0 We are creating a website for people who owns a pet or who loves pets. 0 By combining the idea of pet selling and social websites to form the basic structure.

Objectives. 0 A new way of building up personal networks 0 Since the website members all has pets, the interaction between users would increase connections in real life other then just virtual. 0 Instant online support and services related to pets. 0 A site that could help on supporting both animal and environment protection association.

More detailed explanation Target audience (who is it aimed at?) This website is designed for people who own a pet or who loves pets.

Social need or desire being addressed (why would they want to use it?) Sections in our websites contain 0 BBS; 0 chat room; 0 on-line shop 0 on-line vet. Thus 3 catalogues of demand can be definitely met in our website. 0 1)Communication demands among pet owners could be satisfied by BBS and Chat room: Existing pet owner share their experiences on their pet. Potential pet lovers search for pet information. 0 2)Secondly, shopping demand is another reason people will visit our website, for our on-line shop provides high quality pet commodities according to all the pet owner feedbacks in chat room and BBS. 0 3)The last but not the least thing we serve our users is the pets’ healthy problem: when there is something wrong with pet, its owner may find it hard to find a pet vet nearby or he may feel it’s a small problem that need no clinical treatment.

Utility (what can they do with it?) Key point: 0 exchange the information and share the interest things 0 communicate 0 upload their pictures, videos, add other users as friends 0 join common-interest user groups “Online Vet” service 0 sell goods about pets, pet toys, pet food, pet cloth, pet appliances. 0 Lost and found platform

Function (how do they use it? how safe/secure is it? is there a privacy policy? are there rules/regulations regarding behaviour of users and if so how are they enforced?) 0 Most functions are only opened for members. 0 Need password and security question to log in. 0 Words number and language limited. 0 Content filtration.

Interactivity (with respect to people, product and or process; between people and/or between people and technology and/or between devices?) 0 Interactive experience between people and device 0 Directly operate on the site 0 Povides data backup and system log view and manage 0 Faster data processing speed, and the ability to respond to customer requests

Appeal and engagement (design features, look and feel, attractiveness) 0 Combined Facebook and blog and normal website together 0 Multifunction 0 Easy and convenient to use 0 Style: ‘relax & clean’ (Light colors, simple pages)

Degree of innovation (uniqueness) Our idea of the pets and the pet owner’s social website is very unique. Although there are social website like blogs and Facebook, our core idea has combined all that together. To make sure the website not to lose focus on the audience, this is one of the reasons we have limited down the member qualification to only for pets or their owners. We have thought about to contain vet services and pet shop sponsor advertisement. Due to the accident may occur anytime; our website has design a 24-7 online vet service that our members could contact anytime when they needed it.

Application of technology (Web 2.0 features, interoperability, media, ubiquity) For the Web 2.0 features, we have included forum, blog, event, gallery, personal profile and online chat function. Media could be used Forum – photos and text Blog - photos, text and videos Event – photos and text Gallery - photos Profile - photos, text and videos Online Chat – text The functions we have included are very widely used on many different social websites. This means the components in each above section are very familiar for the users to use, which can increase the feeling of our website is very convenient and thoughtful for the member. Since the same functions are widely used, the difficulty of the technology won’t be too high and should be wide spread.
