ETIQUETTES OF IJTEMAS

Renew personal faith & spirituality Meet & establish friendship with members of the community Recharge and Reform PURPOSE OF NATIONAL IJTEMA

The theme for this years Ijtema is “The need for Khilafat” IJTEMA THEME

Attend Ijtema sessions in marquees at proper times. Members must observe punctuality in attending the Ijtema. They must arrive before the start of each session. Unnecessary movement should be avoided during the proceedings, as it creates lot of disturbance for other audience DURING IJTEMA SESSIONS

Listen quietly during recitation of the Holy Quran. Show respect to your elders. We should display discipline by making straight rows, remaining silent and attentive. Do not disturb others by talking among yourselves during the formal sessions. DURING IJTEMA SESSIONS

Observe proper mosque etiquette when in the prayer area. If your prayer is completed, wait silently for those who are still praying. Stand shoulder-to-shoulder leaving no gaps to make your rows neat. Keep your heads covered. SALA’AT PRAYERS

Refrain from meaningless talk. Conversation should be carried out in low voice and with due respect. Some people talk loudly or sit in groups and indulge in loud laughter. Try to avoid these practices as much as you can during these three days. Do not waste time in idle gossip but spend your spare time in remembering Allah CONVERSATION

Please switch off your cell phones during the prayers. When the phone begins ringing, it causes disturbance to the worshippers. Do not bring any mp3 player, ipod, ipad, psp or any other electronic devices inside Ijtema Gah. You should focus on what is being said during Ijtema. ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Some children throw litter on the ground. Whoever notices any litter, should pick it up and throw in the litterbins. Remember to keep the toilets clean, after all cleanliness is part of our faith. Keep a plastic bag with you to collect your trash. Pick up any trash you see lying around. CLEANLINESS

Do not visit the dining area during formal sessions. Eat your meals inside the dining hall and during the allotted times—except if there is a medical reason. If there is any left over, please finish. Do not throw it away! What prayer is recited before eating? FOOD

Food should be taken in a dignified manner and with patience. Keep the dining area clean and throw your garbage in the bins. There will be plenty of food for everyone. Come back for more rather than throw the excess. FOOD

Take only what you can finish yourself and make sure nothing is wasted. When one is eating, their attention should be towards their food, taking it for granted is the way of the arrogant. Eating meals together brings blessings. One should not hurry or be greedy while eating together. FOOD

Rules exist for a reason. Rules exist because when people don’t follow them, they get hurt. Patience is the key which solves all problems. Therefore wait for your turn standing in ques. Don’t rush at the security check. Wait for your turn. FOLLOW THE RULES

Keep praying for the success of the ijtema. KEEP PRAYING
