Classroom Rules Mr. Traband

1. Come to class on time Standing outside the door and rushing in after the bell has begun to ring will constitute a tardy. You must be INSIDE the door when it begins ringing to be counted on time.

2. Begin the warm up activity within one minute after the tardy bell Directions will be on the projection screen or the board. Please do not wait for me to remind you to begin since I need to take roll and attend to other duties for the first few minutes of the period. When I begin class, directions for the warm up may be taken down, so don't delay.

3. Attend to personal needs before coming to class Due to times of no pass and the disruption it can create in a class try to get things done during the passing period. Anyone who comes to me before the bell has rung and asks if they can go to the bathroom will be granted the request without a tardy issued. But, do not take more than 5 minutes after that point or there will be consequences.

4. Remain in your assigned seat unless you have permission to get up This is not a free-for-all, this is a classroom. Unless we are doing an activity which requires movement there is no need for people getting out of their seats without permission. Throw scraps away at the end of the period on your way out.

5. Do not eat candy or other food in class unless you have been given special permission For the first two weeks of this year absolutely no food or drink in the media center. Later: We, as a class, will work this out. Maybe school sponsored sales will be permitted during the last 5 minutes of class IF we are finished with the lesson and permission is granted. Be sure to ask first. As I said before, we will work something out.

6. Bring required materials every day unless you are otherwise directed. Bring pencils, pens, paper, textbooks, and any other assigned materials. I will help, but it is not my responsibility for you to be prepared. It is your personal responsibility.

7. Talk only when permitted Be aware of the situation since quiet talking is allowed in some situations and speaking to the entire group without raising your hand may be allowed in others. I will remind you once and expect compliance.

8. Use polite speech and body language Unkind teasing and impolite behavior is unacceptable. Treat others as you wish to be treated. If I feel tension is brewing between students I will contact the office for your removal and ask questions later.

9. Do not cheat Students caught cheating will receive a zero and a phone call home. Both the student who shares his work for an independent assignment AND the person who copies it will suffer the same consequences. I expect you to do your own work and to be sure no one can copy it. There are times I will say get it from someone else, but that is for daily work. Tests and essays are an entirely different matter and cheating will be punished

10. No sleeping I cannot physically stop you from sleeping. But, I can call home and sleeping will definitely hurt your grade. Participation grades are issued daily and sleeping results in a big zero for the day.

11. No use of cell phones, iPods, or other electronic devices without permission. Cell phones and texting really have no purpose in a classroom. We are here to learn not engage in social networking or listen to music. I will give one warning and then take the device away. That also means if I warn a classmate and then you pull your phone out expect it to be confiscated. I do not intend to spend the hour playing phone-tag. Anybody who refuses to cooperate will be sent to the office and their phone will be taken from there and a phone call will be made to home by me.

12. Follow the teacher's directions immediately Keep me happy and I'll do a better job for you! I am just a guide, you are the learner. I can only help you if you will let me.
