Project Proposal o Description: - Ray Chambers – Teacher At Uppingham Community College - UK An early years program which would benefit children and parents. It would help parents teach their children basic words on the go. Many schools send words home for children. It would be nice if there was a simple application which would teach children key words (spellings). The child would have words to spell correctly if correct then then they move to the next question. Once the child have 5 points (pots), they’re rewarded with a bonus game of catching falling pots. The sound will play out loud so that the child can hear how the word is pronounced. Once pronounced the child can swipe the screen to find a list of buttons which check the spellings. For animals, there will be sounds to help the child. There could be a version with sounds or without sounds which link to a web request. If there were a new set of words stored online, the parent could access a different library. I.E – Animals, House Hold Items, Actions etc.. Possible developments might mean that teachers could update a file of sounds. See next slide for advanced options….

Project Proposal o Advanced Options There will be two options available, the first available option will be multiple choice, for new spellers. They will click on honey pots when guessing their answers. Eventually, they’ll become more confident in spelling and will try more difficult games. The second will require the child to type in the word based on the sound played in the pronunciation. All other menus and bonus rounds will be the same. They can use the same screen’s and class for this game.

o Screen 2(Type of Game): The user clicks the button of the game he would like to play! Written User clicks button Screen 2: Multiple Choice Please pick the type of level you would like to play! Thank you for picking MULTIPLE CHOICE Swipe the screen to play

o Screen 3(Pick Words): User picks the words which they would like to use such as household, actions and animals…. Animals User clicks button Screen 2: You picked ANIMALS!!!! Swipe the screen to play HouseholdAction

o Screen 4 (Multiple Choice): Pronunciation is played as well as the sound of the animal. Child picks the correct spelling. User clicks correct button Screen 2: CORRECT! Swipe for the next word REPLAY SOUND POTS 0 CHEEP SHEEP SHEAP

o Screen 4 (Written): Type of screen used for written. The user clicks on the bee when they are happy with the spelling. User clicks correct button Screen 2: CORRECT! Swipe for the next word REPLAY SOUND TYPE SPELLING HERE POTS 0

o Screen 5 (Incorrect Answer): Pronunciation is played as well as the sound of the animal. Child picks the incorrect spelling. User clicks incorrect button Screen 2: THE WORD YOU WERE LOOKING FOR WAS SHEEP Swipe for the next word REPLAY SOUND POTS 0 CHEEP SHEEP SHEAP

o Screen 6 (Access Bonus): Child is on the 4 th question and has 4 pots so far… User clicks correct button Screen 2: FANTASTIC! YOU HAVE 5 POTS! SWIPE FOR THE BONUS ROUND BONUS ROUND REPLAY SOUND POTS 4 CAT KIT KAT

o Screen 7(Bonus Game): Child has swiped for bonus round User clicks correct button Screen 2: TIMES UP! READY FOR MORE HONEY!! SWIPE FOR MORE HONEY POTS 5 Falling Honey Pots Child swipes bee Along the screen To catch them for 10 seconds. The score is added on to their existing score.
