1 Explain what touch develop is to your students:
TouchDevelop is a programming environment that runs on your mobile devices. You write scripts by tapping on the screen. You do not need a separate PC or keyboard. Scripts can perform various tasks similar to regular apps. Any TouchDevelop user can install, run, edit, and publish scripts. You can share your scripts with other people by publishing them to the TouchDevelop script bazaar, or by submitting them as an app to the Windows Store or Windows Phone Store.

2 Learning Objective LO: We’re learning to develop screen plans and we’re learning to address client requirements. Lesson Objective: - Students are going to learn about the importance of planning and development with this section of the scheme of work. They have build simple scripts to move objects up / down / left / right and they have controlled interactions.

3 Setting the scene…. You are required to build a mobile phone application which will help children learn. The requirements are: It must be fun It must be educational It must allow the user to interact with the screen It should include scoring elements It should include sounds Include information about your school. Walk your students through how to get logged on to the touch develop environment.

4 Planning / Scenario Task 1 : -
You are required to write up a paragraph explaining how you plan on meeting the requirements on the previous screen. You are required to describe the idea for your application and you should include descriptions of colour. Main() – Students will need to know that main is the main function of your game. It will run this function before anything else. If you have used Kodu as a starter you can link this is with Pages. Explain that other functions will happen later on. Post to wall – Get your students to experiment with changing this message and pressing the run button. Get a quick discussion about the changes and what it does. Talk to students how plain the game is and what we would like to do. What is a sprite – Get your students to understand and maybe even take notes. A sprite is a character or computer graphic which may be moved on screen. It can be manipulated in many ways. What is a variable – Get your students to think of a variable as a bucket. It is something which can be emptied and refilled with information. For example if you had a name variable. It could store lots of different information. If you emptied the bucket, you would have room for a new name. Explain that you can have a variable which is local and a variable which is global and used all over the program.

5 Screen Designs Task 2 : - You are required to sketch out your screen designs on paper or through PowerPoint. Your teacher has a rough plan which you can have a look at. Comment on requirements and talk about different colours, borders and any features which may make your game stand out. See example: Students should have a rough idea in their head of what they would like their game to look like. They’re required to build screen designs on paper. They should talk about the designs of each screen and comment on important aspects for their game.

6 Screen 1(Login): The user prompted with the name of the child
SPELLING BEE TYPE NAME HERE Go Animated picture of a bee moving back and forward User clicks button Hi (Name Variable)! Help me find my honey! Screen 2: Swipe the screen to play
