Regional Director’s Award

Regional Director’s Award Levels All Regional Director’s may apply for the Florida School Nutrition Association Regional Director’s Award. One (1) strategy must be completed from each of the five (5) Initiatives. The Award is divided into three levels: GOLD AWARD – Completion of 11 or more strategies. No more than one page of documentation can be submitted for each strategy. Checked strategies must be completed with documentation. (This could be total pages when complete, not including Entry Form, Annual Chapter President’s Report, and Tracking Document) SILVER AWARD – Completion of 8-10 strategies. No more than one page of documentation can be submitted for each strategy. (This will be 8-10 total pages when complete, not including Entry Form, Annual Chapter President’s Report, and Tracking Document) BRONZE AWARD – Completion of 5-7 strategies. No more than one page of documentation can be submitted for each strategy. (This will be 5-7 total pages when complete, not including Entry Form, Annual Chapter President’s Report, and Tracking Document)

Regional Director’s Award Initiatives I NITIATIVE #1 – Membership Strategies _____ Assist the counties in your region to increase local, state, and/or national membership by 5%. _____ Contact the Food Service Directors in your region and encourage them to join National, State and Local. _____ Conduct a membership contest at your regional meeting. _____ Recruit retired members to assist local chapters.

I NITIATIVE #2 – Professional Development Strategies _____ Invite the Food Service Directors in your region to your regional conference as a guest. _____ Invite the Food Service Directors in your region to teach a breakout session at your regional conference. _____ Make 1 or more of the breakout sessions at your regional conference centered on menu planning, food preparation, food safety, nutrition, etc. _____ Have at least 3 of the Food Service Directors from your region attend Industry Seminar.

I NITIATIVE #3 – Legislation Strategies _____ Assist the chapters in your region to use the SNA Legislative Toolkit at one of their local meetings to educate local membership. _____ Invite all of the Food Service Directors in your region to the Legislative Action Caucus in Tallahassee. _____ Invite a representative from your region to speak at your regional conference.

I NITIATIVE #4 – Communications Strategies _____ Write an article for the winter edition of the Florida School Nutrition magazine. _____ Communicate with your chapter Presidents monthly. _____ Schedule regional conference planning meetings to include all participating chapter presidents. _____ Visit and speak at least one of the chapters in your region other than your own. _____ Invite vendors to your regional conferences.

Regional Director’s Award Deadlines Regional Directors Award Entry/Draft Initiatives Form - Mail/ to FSNA President and FSNA Office by October 1 st deadline. Completed Regional Director’s Book - Mail your Regional Director’s Book (3-prong/ring folder/binder) with completed Initiatives, Annual Regional Director’s Report, and documentation to FSNA President postmarked by March 1st.
