Description  New form of leadership identified in  One third of all leadership research is now on this form.  Transformational leadership fits the needs of today’s work groups who want to be inspired and empowered to succeed in times of uncertainty.

Description  “transformational leadership is a process that changes people.”  It is mainly concerned with emotions, values, ethics, and long term goals.  Includes assessing followers’ motives, satisfying needs, and treating them as full human beings.

Description  Involves an exceptional form of influence that moves followers to accomplish more than what is expected of them.  Uses charisma and vision to motivate.

Definition  Transformational leadership does not involve traditional power.  Followers are motivated by the cause and simply guided by the leader.  The followers need the leader because they represent the cause.

Defined  Transformational leadership is the process whereby a person engages with others and creates a connection that raises the level of motivation and morality in both the leader and the follower.  Helps both reach their full potential and go through a change.  Hitler would not fit this definition as he did not raise morality.
