Cert TEFL Programme 2014 The EDI CertTEFL is a Level 5 qualification (UK Qualifications and Credit Framework) designed for people who have little or no experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) but who wish to embark on a career as an EFL teacher. The EDI CertTEFL is a highly practical course designed to provide candidates with the initial skills they need for teaching English to adult students of other languages. Achievement of the EDI CertTEFL will confirm that candidates: Have a good understanding of the essential aspects of the EFL teacher’s role Can organise and manage effective learning Have developed professionally through ongoing reflection and evaluation

Course Content The EDI CertTEFL has a unitised structure consisting of six mandatory units. The syllabus topics and learning outcomes for this qualification have been broadly mapped to the LLUK (Lifelong Learning UK) overarching professional standards and standards for teachers of EFL: Unit 1The principles of teaching and learning in an EFL context Unit 2EFL teaching skills and managing the learning environment Unit 3Teaching language within an EFL context Unit 4Teaching speaking, writing, listening and reading in an EFL context Unit 5Planning and evaluation of EFL teaching Unit 6Assessment of EFL learners

The aims of the EDI CertTEFL qualification are to enable the learner to: Evaluate the communicative needs of classes of speakers of other languages Meet these needs through effective teaching Evaluate how effectively they are meeting these needs

Assessment The EDI CertTEFL is assessed via a combination of teaching practice, teacher observation and written assignments. Candidate performance is internally assessed by course tutors and externally moderated by EDI examiners. Assessment consists of: Observation of experienced teachers within the learning environment Delivery of monitored teaching practice classes Demonstration of learning through written assignments Candidates are required to keep portfolios of all work.

This course is open to anyone above the age of 18 years (start of course) The course will last 120 hours and will be delivered over weekend periods Limited Spaces Available (Apply Early to Avoid Disappointment). Start Dates: Every Month throughout the Year
