Microsoft Outlook Web Access allows secure access to your corporate e- mail over the Web using any computer or device with Internet access. Access Remote Securely Use Outlook Web Access or Remote Procedure Call (RPC) over HTTP (which allows you to use Outlook over an Internet connection) instead of Remote Access to quickly check your . When accessing your remotely, avoid questionable networks, such as Internet cafés. Make sure to clear the check box that offers to remember your password when using a public computer. Change your password as soon as possible after using any publicly accessible Internet kiosk (such as at an airport). Public computers can contain malicious software created to steal your account and password information. If you use a system that others have access to, close the browser completely after you log off Outlook Web Access to prevent others from accessing your account. Secure Outlook Web Access Outlook Web Access offers improved security at public Internet terminals because your logon credentials are not stored in the browser. When you click Log Off in Outlook Web Access, your mailbox becomes inaccessible to anyone else using that computer. Always follow these security tips when using Outlook Web Access: Never leave a computer or terminal you are using unattended. Change your password frequently using a strong password. Strong passwords include the following: eight characters or more; upper and lower case characters, digits, and punctuation marks; no actual words in any language, slang, dialect, or jargon; not based on personal or family names. Never select Remember my password at a logon box. Always click Log Off when done with your session. Choose Internet terminals that use strong encryption. To check the encryption level: 1.Open Internet Explorer and select Help>About Internet Explorer. 2.The encryption level/cipher strength will be listed. In general, 40-bit is weak, 56-bit is marginal, and 128-bit is strong.
