16 November 2007CVFPC Youth Fellowship Is This Religion The True Religion?

Vital Questions ??????????  What is this religion?  What are the alternatives?  Why are they wrong?  How can you be sure that this religion is the true religion?  Is there a difference between religion and faith?

What is this religion? 1. The Christian faith. 2. The belief that Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity, that he was born of virgin, that he lived a sinless life, that he died a substitute for sinners, that he rose again, ascended up into heaven, prays for us today and will physically return to the earth.

What is this religion? 3. That a person must be born again of the Holy Spirit through repentance of sin and faith in Christ alone. 4. That the Bible is the Word of God and contains the only revelation of God and is the infallible rule of faith and practice.

What are the alternatives?  Unbelief – agnosticism and atheism.  Other word religions – Judaism, Islam, Roman Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism.  Cults – Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses Cooneyites, Spiritualism, Seventh Day Adventists, the Occult, Christian Science ect…

How can we be sure that this religion is the true religion?  Is the Bible a reliable book? -The Bible’s historical claims are being constantly verified. -Many of the Bible prophecies have been fulfilled. -The Bible has been preserved for thousands of years despite the multitude of authors, the variety of languages and the numerous efforts to destroy it.

How can we be sure that this religion is the true religion?  Has the Christian faith been in existence since the days of the Apostles? -A vital question because if our faith is new then God has withheld it from the world for millennia. - Our faith predated the reformation. - It is based upon the teachings of the Apostles. -It survived the dark ages despite the corruptions which Rome introduced into the church.

How can we be sure that this religion is the true religion?  Is the new birth a genuine experience? -It transforms lives. -Those who are born again never regret what God has done. -It enables people to bear terrible suffering and profound tragedy. -Real Christianity works.

Religion and Faith? Religion  Reading the Bible.  Saying prayers.  Attending church.  Being different from others.  Having a label. Faith  Reading to hear God.  Praying to talk to God  Attending Church to Worship God.  Being different to become like God.  Enjoying God not enduring religion.
