Oakland University Student Congress Think Success, Think Oakland University!

Our Mission  To provide Oakland university with a proactive and capable student congress that will meet the needs of our growing campus community.

Our Promise  ACCOUNTABILITY : A clear division of labor to ensure all goals are implemented and effectively completed.  CONTINUITY : Maintaining the status-quo by continuing with the standard of excellence Congress has established.  ASSESSMENT : Evaluating all OUSC programs to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Student Services  OUSC provides numerous Student Services.  All OU students can take advantage of free Bluebooks and Scantrons.  In March, students can travel to Lansing during OUSC’s “OU Day at the Capital” to meet state politicians and discuss student concerns.

More Student Services  Early in September, OUSC sponsors a two- day Voter Registration Drive.  Also, as we continually innovate, students can now enjoy the OUSC “Bookswap” online. Here, any student at Oakland can swap or sell books to other students.

Diversity  In the past two years, OUSC Student Services Directors have been recipients of the Keeper of the Dream Scholarships. Most of their projects have emphasized diversity and have caught the attention of the campus community.  OUSC has constitutional provisions to ensure that the legislature includes faculty, staff and the President of the Residence Halls Council.  This year, OUSC includes two students from South Africa!

Legislation  The congress has been proactive in a number of issues: a)The members advocated for Proposal K, while helping expose the truth behind Proposal 4. b)Bill merged the efforts of the Department of Campus Recreation and OUSC.

Networking  Student Congress is constantly looking to partner with different university entities!  Not only does this provide more exciting opportunities to the university community, but also, students have a chance to work with people in other interests throughout the university.  This year Congress has partnered with Housing, The Deans of Students Office, Campus Recreation and numerous student orgs.

Programming  OUSC and the Student Program Board (SPB) held the First Ever Student/ Faculty Basketball game.  Dinner Theater “Mission Improvable” at Meadow Brook Hall.  SPB works hard to provide an outlet for on and off campus students.

Student Congress  For more information, check out Congress online at  Feel free to swing by the Student Congress Office in the basement of the Oakland Center.
