CoastNET A vision for partnerships Coastal Partnerships vision, 2010 Coastal Partnerships have consistently proved their leading role in coastal zone management and are now accepted by all as the main mechanism for promoting sustainable development on the coast through ICZM. Government and other institutions which are active on the coast recognise this, and a clear purpose and role for partnerships is defined within a national policy framework. This purpose and role addresses: conflicts between sectors, strategic planning, community involvement, public and institutional understanding of coastal issues, and management of information. Adequate support over the long term for partnership activities is provided for, and performance of partnerships is measured against a national set of partnership indicators.
