The Safety Solution Here are some ways you can be part of the safety solution

Don’t prop outside doors There have been examples of someone with the intent to harm sneaking in a propped door

Err on the side of Caution If someone act suspicious, report it to Safety and Security or to building staff. Don’t just shrug it off—there’s something to be said for trusting your instincts

Keep your room locked Even if you’re just going next door or down the hall, lock the door! Thieves can easily slip in. And be sure that you lock your door when you’re asleep. It only takes a minute for someone to do harm when an open door invites them in.

Offer to walk with people, especially after dark Work together to make sure fellow community members aren’t walking alone at night or in isolated areas.

Get to know Safety and Security Officers Stop and chat with the officers in our community. A stronger relationship will most likely help you work together toward the creation of a safer living environment

Support Building Staff When a CF asks you to abide by policies and procedures, the main reason is that they want to keep you safe! So, support the rules that the campus expects them to enforce– it’s definitely in your best interest
