7 Theft Prevention: In Residence Halls Always keep your doors closed & locked Don’t let people you don’t know in your room Don’t leave valuables in plain view of visitors

8 © 2007 Arizona State University Theft Prevention: Around Campus Don’t leave your purse, wallet, books, or backpack on a table while you walk away to use the restroom, get a drink, or buy your food…… IT WONT BE THERE WHEN YOU GET BACK! If you are working out, playing basketball or racquet ball, secure your belongings in a locked locker. If you don ’ t …… I T WONT BE THERE WHEN YOU FINISH!

9 © 2007 Arizona State University Theft Prevention: Your Vehicle Keep doors locked Don’t leave extra set of keys in vehicle Remove detachable face plates of stereo & take with you Use an anti-theft device Remove valuables from you car when you leave; or hide them out of view Roll windows all the way up when you leave Hide stereo equipment out of view

11 © 2007 Arizona State University Witnessing a Crime If you witness a crime in progress call 9-1-1 immediately, don’t ask someone else to call for you, they wont be able to provide pertinent information to the dispatcher. location crime description police contact

12 © 2007 Arizona State University Reporting a Crime You may request to remain anonymous when reporting a crime. Understand you will still be asked to provide as much detail as possible to assist the Officers in investigating the crime.
