3 Agenda Fire Earthquake Lock Down Communication Drills Future Plans
Questions

4 Fire Emergency Procedure Parent Response
In the event of a fire on campus, the fire alarm will ring throughout the campus. All students, teachers, and school staff will leave the buildings and line up on the blacktop. Once on the blacktop, attendance will be taken to make sure all students are accounted for and safe. Parent Response Wait for official word and pick up your children, if needed.

5 EarthQuake Emergency Procedure Parent Response
In the event of a earthquake, all students and school staff are to duck and cover. This involves getting under their desks and other furniture to protect themselves from failing debris. They are to remain under cover for approximately 1 minutes after the shaking stops. Then, the fire alarm will ring and everyone will leave the buildings and assemble on the blacktop where attendance will be taken to make sure that everyone is safe and accounted for. Parent Response Make sure that you are safe. Then, please wait for official word as to what to do next.

6 Lock Down Emergency Procedure Parent Response
A lockdown can be called for a variety of reasons by both the Fremont police and/or school and district staff. It may be called due to events happening either at Leitch Elementary School or in the community around the school. If a lock down is called, all students and staff will immediately get indoors and all doors will be locked. Everyone will stay where they are until the lock down is lifted. Parent Response Do not attempt to come on campus as doors will not be opened and no children will be released. Do not try to call the school as office staff will be busy and potentially the phone lines will be in use.

7 Communication In the event of an emergency, there are several different methods we will use to communicate what is going on. The automated phone call system can be used by both the school and the school district (Bright Arrow).

8 Communication The school and district website has an “Emergency Info” page (under Resources + Contact).

9 Communication Emergency Information is also posted on the district Facebook page.

10 Communication Fremont Police Department information can be found on Nixle.

11 Drills Monthly fire drills 2 lock down drills a year
4 Earthquake drills

12 Future Plans In March, we will be doing a mock disaster drill. The purpose is to go more in depth into our emergency procedures and make sure that the teachers and staff are familiar with what to do. We will be looking for a few parents to come and “check out” their students so we can test our check out plan after an emergency. On February 22 at 3:00 PM we will be holding our next safety committee meeting in Room K3. Any parents who are interested are welcome to join us.

13 Any Questions??
