Graduation Requirements  English - 4 years  Math - 3 years  Science - 3 years  World Language - 2 years  History-US History I, US History II, & World Cultures  PE & Health - 4 years  Visual Performing Arts - 1 year  21 st Century Life &Careers, Career Tech Education - 1 year  Financial Literacy - ½ year  Must Pass PARCC Assessment  130 credits to GRADUATE 2

Grade Promotion 10 th grade - 29 credits 11 th grade - 58 credits 12 th grade - 91 credits 130 credits to graduate Academic & Elective classes are worth 5 credits PE & Health are worth 2.5 credits each (total of 5) Lab sciences are worth 6 credits 3

LEVELS 1.Honors – Students who feel they qualify must first request on back of selection sheet. Invitations will then be sent home based on Middle School approval. Honors course(s) will be added by Seneca when signed parent approval is returned. 2.Accelerated - College bound-competitive 4 year schools 3.College Prep - College bound & vocational-some 4 year colleges, all 2 year colleges and vocational programs 4.Modified – Reinforces and builds upon basic skills 5.Pullout Replacement – Special Education 4

Academic Units 4 year colleges typically require at least 16 academic units. English - 4 years History - 3 years Math years Science years World Language years Top Factors for College 1. Grades in Academic Courses – Honors, accelerated, and college prep. 2. Strength of Schedule – Both the amount of course work you complete in high school and the rigor of those courses 3. Admission Test Scores – Scores on either the SAT or ACT (most schools accept both interchangeably) 4. Class Rank based on weighted grade point average. Selection Sheet 1.English I - Choose a level 2.World Language - Usually same level chosen as English 3.Math - All students must take Algebra I or Geometry (only if had Algebra I in middle school). Option at end of 8 th grade to take high school credit for Algebra I. Algebra I Support is a 5 credit class available to students who feel they would benefit from extra Math reinforcement in addition to their Algebra class. 4.Science - Environmental Science or Biology-strongly recommend only taking Biology if taking Geometry 5.Physical Education/Health I 6.Elective 7.Elective 8.Elective or Study Hall **Must pick at least 7 classes** **Must pick alternative electives** 6

Course Changes August 1 st 2015 is the last day to request changes in your schedule. This must be done in writing with your parent’s signature. Once school starts, ONLY errors will be corrected. There are timelines to drop levels and/or drop a course to a study hall. Only 1 study hall per year is allowed (so you cannot drop a class to a study hall if you already have one!) If you drop a course, WP (Withdrawal Passing) or WF (Withdrawal Failing) will appear on transcript. CHOOSE WISELY!! 8

Summer School/Tutoring for Original Credit Firefighter/EMT More info on district website: **8 th grade courses (Algebra I & Spanish I) being accepted for high school credit will appear on the transcript as an accelerated course and will NOT be calculated in GPA and rank. 9

Athletics Seneca Sports Fall/Winter Sports: All in-coming Freshmen are eligible. Spring Sports: Must be passing 15 credits at the end of the first semester to be eligible. College Sports-NCAA- Division I sports require 16 academic units Division II sports require 16 academic units Minimum GPA-2.0 Academic courses taken in the Lenape Regional High School District meet the criteria as a core course, set forth by the NCAA. 10

Attendance Students are allowed 4 unexcused absences per semester Semester 1 - Marking Periods1 & 2 Semester 2 - Marking Periods 3 & 4 Anytime a student arrives after homeroom or leaves before the end of the school day, it will be considered an absence unless accompanied by an excused absence note. The following will excuse an absence: Doctor’s note Funeral/Death in family Court Appearance Written Parental Permission –Limited to one parent note per semester (note may excuse a series of consecutive days absent) No Credit Status. Requires a student to attend the LRHSD Credit Completion program to be awarded high school credit for completed courses. Any pupil who exceeds 4 unexcused absences will be on No Credit for single semester courses and any pupil who exceeds 8 unexcused absences will be on No Credit for full year courses.
